Van

PRODUCTION CERTIFICATION
Fee: $150
Prerequisite: None
Class Availability: All Community Media Centers

Producer:
Learn basic video production and the certification process, policies and procedures, production forms, script terminology, composition, communicating your message, directing, volunteerism and the role of a producer.

Camera: Learn to work with a small prosumer camera slightly larger than most palmcorders. It records professional-quality images on digital tape. Included in the course are good shooting practices, safety and organization, camera basics, technician's roles and audio.

Editing: Learn non-linear editing with a Mac based computer editing program. The course includes beginning a new project, logging and capturing, learning program windows, organizing your clips, basic editing, trimming, adding b-roll, creating graphics, transistions, audio and music.




Van

STUDIO PRODUCTION

Class Availability: Māpunapuna, Pālolo/Kaimukī, Wai‘anae, Waipahu

Studio production introduces technicians to the world of multi-camera production. The class teaches the fundamentals of set design, lighting design, camera operation, floor directing, technical directing, audio board operation, VTR operation, and directing.

The ‘Ōlelo Production Van is a fully-equipped mobile studio that enables the crew to go to where the action is and record it for airing on the PEG Access Channels. Learn how to incorporate the complexity of a multi-camera production with the excitement of on-location events.

FEATHER PACK
Fee: $25
Prerequisite: Production Certification
Class Availability: All Community Media Centers

The mini EFP (Electronic Field Production) unit known as the Feather Pack, is a portable unit that is an alternative to the Van and contains a switcher, CG, two DVCPro decks, and if necessary, up to four cameras. The unit is designed to be run by a minimum of 3 people.

  • Please note: ‘Ōlelo's training classes are designed to teach basic production skills in order to create non-commercial programs for cablecasting on ‘Ōlelo's channels. They are not a subsititute for video production classes for educational or commercial purposes.

    To register: Contact the CMC offering the class you're interested in. Payment in cash or by personal check is required to register for class. If you are unable to attend a class you are registered for, please contact that CMC at least 24 hours in advance or your payment will be forfeited.
