This Privacy Policy explains how Olelo Community Media and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies (“Olelo”, “we” or “us”) collects, uses, and discloses information about you when you access or use our websites, mobile applications, and other online products and services (collectively, the “Services”), engage with us on social media, or otherwise interact with us.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time.  If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our website homepage or sending you a notification).  We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our information practices and the choices available to you.

We collect information directly from you in a variety of ways. For example, we collect information when you create an account, participate in any interactive features of the Services, fill out a form, register for a class, receive a certification, reserve equipment or a studio, create or manage projects, connect with a crew, submit a program, apply for a job, communicate with us via third party social media sites, or otherwise communicate with us.  The types of information we collect directly from you include your name, email address, address, phone number, avatar, gender, government issued personal identification information, date of birth and age, native language, education information, ethnicity, income bracket, and any other information you choose to provide. 

When you access or use our Services, we automatically information about you, including:

  • Usage Information: We collect information related to your use of Olelo resources obtained through the Services, such as the classes you have registered for and the equipment and studio time you have reserved, and the programs you have submitted. 
  • Log Information:  We collect information related to your access to and use of the Services, including the type of browser you use, app version, access times, pages viewed, your IP address, and the page you visited before navigating to our Services.
  • Device Information:  We collect information about the computer or mobile device you use to access our Services, including the hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Location Information:  We may derive the approximate location of your device from your IP address.
  • Information Collected by Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies:  We (and our service providers) use different technologies to collect information, including cookies and web beacons.  Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that help us improve our Services and your experience, see which areas and features of our Services are popular, and count visits.  Web beacons (also known as “pixel tags” or “clear GIFs”) are electronic images that may be used in our Services or emails and help deliver cookies, count visits, and understand usage and campaign effectiveness.  For more information about cookies and how to disable them, see Your Choices below.

We may share information about you as follows or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy:

  • With vendors, service providers, and consultants that need access to such information to perform services for us, including to help us store information, authenticate users, processing payments, and debug, secure and improve our Services;
  • With other users of the Services, if you post content in a publicly-accessible area of the Services, such as video programming;

SOCIAL SHARING FEATURES

ADVERTISING AND ANALYTICS SERVICES PROVIDED BY OTHERS

We may allow others to provide analytics services and serve advertisements on our behalf across the web and in mobile applications.  These entities may use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers and other technologies to collect information about your use of the Services and other websites and applications, including your IP address, web browser, mobile network information, pages viewed, time spent on pages or in apps, links clicked, and conversion information.  This information may be used by Olelo and others to, among other things, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content, deliver advertising and content targeted to your interests on our Services and other websites, and better understand your online activity. DATA RETENTION

Olelo is based in the United States and we process and store information in the US and other countries.  Therefore, we and our service providers may transfer your information to, or store or access it in, jurisdictions that may not provide equivalent levels of data protection as your home jurisdiction.

YOUR CHOICES

Account Information

You may update and correct certain account information you provide to us at any time by logging into your account, emailing us at olelocm@olelo.org.  If you wish to deactivate your account, please email us at olelocm@olelo.org, contact us through the help function available through your account, or connect with us at one of our Media Service Centers, but note that we may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.  We may also retain cached or archived copies of information about you for a certain period of time.

Cookies

Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default.  If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies.    Please note that if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect the availability and functionality of our Services.

Promotional Communications

You may opt out of receiving promotional emails from Olelo by following the instructions in those emails. If you opt out, we may still send you non-promotional emails, such as those about your account or our ongoing business relations.

Mobile Push Notifications/Alerts

With your consent, we may send promotional and non-promotional push notifications or alerts to your mobile device.  You can deactivate these messages at any time by changing the notification settings on your mobile device.
