Beginning September 1, 2016, ῾Ōlelo Community Media will begin cablecasting in high definition on two Hawaiian Telcom channels, which is found at 1049 and 1053.
῾Ōlelo programming will continue to be available on current Hawaiian Telcom channels 49 and 53 for viewers without HD televisions.
High-definition cablecasting provides higher resolution pictures designed to fit today’s 16×9 format television screens.
“The new high-definition channels will allow ῾Ōlelo and our hundreds of community producers to showcase our programming to Hawaiian Telcom customers at its very best,” explains Sanford Inouye, president and CEO of ῾Ōlelo.
Planning and preparation for this change began over two years ago with the purchase of new equipment and the introduction of additional training for ῾Ōlelo community producers and employees.
