The call letters for the State’s on demand cable channel (50) have changed to better reflect its unique mission.  The new designation is Hawaii Government Public Network (HGPN).

Since the launch of the statewide cable channel this past January, it has become apparent that the role of the channel will become far broader than first anticipated.  In addition to offering the community the opportunity to gain greater access to legislative hearings, the channel will eventually offer the public access to State Executive and Judiciary Branch meetings as well as other special events held at the Capitol.

As the channel evolves to offer the public access to an expanded menu of government activities, it was appropriate to change the name early on to HGPN, Hawaii Government Public Network, which better reflects that expansion.  Also, since the content will be available statewide through the neighbor island community media centers, their logos have been added to the channel page.
